Briefing Promotional Kits That Actually Print

What to put in a trade marketing brief so printers and fabricators stop guessing.

Colorful product packaging on retail shelves

A brief that only lists brand colors will stall at the printer. Trade marketing assets need fixture depth, clip type, claim hierarchy, language mix, and store-type quantities before artwork starts.

Photograph the shelf you intend to use. Note whether the talker sits on a price rail or a clip. Say whether humidity is open-front or chilled. Those details decide material and thickness more than a mood board does.

Lock the offer line early. Changing a claim after dielines are cut costs time and money. Keep secondary benefits off small talkers — aisle distance forgives almost nothing.

Hand the printer a packing list with piece names that match the artboards. When field teams and printers use the same names, fewer kits ship incomplete.
